The Hearing Company: Occupational Audiometry Training & Equipment

Audiometric Booth Assessments

The Hearing Company conducts Australia-wide audiometric booth assessments for compliance with Australian Standards and legislation.

Western Australian services
WorkCover WA legislative hearing tests in Western Australia must be completed in approved testing environments, which usually means inside an audiometric booth.

Our fully qualified Noise Officers are registered with the WA government, and are highly skilled in conducting onsite booth assessments for legislative purposes. And we efficiently manage the application process, with same-day completion of paperwork and submission to WorkCover WA for approval.

Australia-wide services
Drawing on a network of skilled noise assessors, we conduct noise level assessments on audiometric booths and quiet rooms across Australia. Our test protocols follow the rigorous Australian Standard 1269.4.

Why test your room or booth?
An assessment will determine if you can test accurately down to very soft dB levels. It will also confirm that your testing space (booth or room) is compliant with AS21269.4 specification.

Do all rooms or booths pass the assessment?
Consulting rooms in a medial practice – usually not! Even if closing the door and shutting the window.

Booths, however, usually pass, although not always (eg. if placed in a noisy area, there’s a faulty fan or break in the door seal).

Is an entry level sound level meter ok for this assessment?
No. A high specification meter is required, along with a competent operator. Experience has shown us that in the wrong hands a high spec meter can produce wildly inaccurate results.

We work with noise assessors who are skilled in conducting Standards-compliant booth assessments, using quality instruments.

The Audiometric Officer Course was great. I learned skills that will enable me to not only conduct testing on site but also to implement hearing preservation programs. It was a smart investment of 5 days and the most relevant and useful training I have received since uni.

One of the best run courses I have ever attended – knowledgeable presenters and skills coaches. I enjoyed learning about something I had little knowledge of prior to attending. Humour used by Glenn kept things light and enjoyable.

I completed an audiometry course about 18 years ago in South Africa and found this course very much more hands on and I have learnt so much more this time; new information that is very valuable and so well presented. The method Glenn uses for teaching creates a good picture for remembering certain things. An excellent presenter.
