Where are the courses conducted?
  • Public courses in Perth are usually conducted at The Boulevard in Floreat.

  • Courses outside of Perth are conducted at venues in the CBD.

  • Onsite courses are also conducted at company premises. Our equipment and teaching personnel are completely portable.

What other courses do you offer?

We offer a range of courses focused on conducting occupational audiometry. These include a half-day workshop on fitting insert earphones (which offer portable, high-level noise reduction) through to 2-day and 4-day courses which offer varying degrees of compliance with workplace audiometry legislation, Australian Standards and industry best practice.

You can view our range of courses here.

What teaching methods do you use?

A range of teaching methods are utilised during the course to assist students to learn the key skills, including hands on practice, written exercises, role plays, industry anecdotes, visual and auditory presentations, quizzes, demonstrations and “at-elbow” supervision. We also aim to engage and challenge, and many graduates find the course to be interesting (and even fun!). Our teachers certainly enjoy what they do, and this comes out in the teaching.

Do students need to supply their own audiometry equipment on courses?

We supply all practice equipment including audiometers, otoscopes and consumables. On the first day of the course students are issued with a comprehensive Course Manual and Workbook.

Do you provide catering for students on the course?

Lunch, morning tea and afternoon tea will be provided each day.

Why do we need training to conduct hearing assessments?

While conducting a hearing test can be perceived as simply “pressing buttons” there is far more involved in completing the task accurately and according to best practice. In addition to learning the best practice techniques of hearing testing our courses develop “thinking” testers who have the confidence and ability to obtain accurate results and manage routine and challenging testing situations.

What size are the courses?

The courses are taught to small-medium sized groups. This allows our teachers to provide one-on-one, hands-on practical tuition and individually tailor each student’s development of key audiometry skills.

The Audiometric Officer Course was great. I learned skills that will enable me to not only conduct testing on site but also to implement hearing preservation programs. It was a smart investment of 5 days and the most relevant and useful training I have received since uni.

One of the best run courses I have ever attended – knowledgeable presenters and skills coaches. I enjoyed learning about something I had little knowledge of prior to attending. Humour used by Glenn kept things light and enjoyable.

I completed an audiometry course years ago in South Africa and found this course very much more hands on. I have learnt so much more this time; new information that is very valuable and so well presented. The method Glenn and the team use for teaching helped me remember the content. Excellent presentation.
